Who should run on the Republican ticket in '08?

Looking around at the party in this post election haze it's not really clear who the strong leader is. If Hillary is running, the Republicans will need someone with tons of charisma and very little baggage. That pretty much rules out anyone connected to the current administration.

I say it's time for Tommy to run. If we need a rock star, there's no one better. I'm sure he's got baggage, but how does it compare to a Tommy stump speech?

Giving Tommy Thompson a crack at the White House has an added benefit for Wisconsin Republicans. It will distract him from local races. Some of us were just a tad bitter over his on again, off again approach to running in the senate race against Herb Kohl.

Having Thompson on the ticket should make this battleground state red in '08. Tommy's running mate needs to be someone with national appeal, to swing a few more close races in our favor. Can you say Rudy Gulliani? With Rudy on the ticket, is there any chance New York goes red, too?
