Blogiversary (of sorts)
I just noticed that I'm celebrating the one-year mark of my blogging career, sort of. I didn't actually open this blog until September. But as you know, it was the WISN "Milwaukee Talkstar" contest that introduced me (harshly, I might add) to the blogosphere.
The first open tryout was on June 6 (if memory serves) last year. This old post starts out by listing the try-out date as the day I was on the air... Oops!
My only on air audition was on June 30th. After that, I started commenting on Badger Blogger and Gibbsville Unincorporated.
By September, I was hooked and started a blog of my own.
How badly did the "podfather" perform during his radio debut? Let's just say that I left plenty of room for improvement. You can listen, if you really want to. The show does have some notorious moments that I'm STILL hearing about. In particular, my comment about teaching your kids to play in the street.
My only regret about losing to Chris in the first round is that I never got to test myself to see if I learned anything. I felt like that really awesome experience was going to go to waste. Blogging helped to keep me from feeling like I got nothing out of it all. When I started doing the podcasts I think Patrick realized long before me that it was something I just had to do.

4 Amendments:
Wow, it's been a whole year since the Talkstar competition already!
I can say that you have learned something since your 'big break' on the radio, when you do your podcasts, you are not so rushed, you give ideas time to grow, that was the problem you had on the radio. So yes, I say you did take something away from the experience.
I'll bet Jerry Bott still has nightmares though.
I've also learned not to take calls. :)
Happy bloggin'versary aaron!
should we have an honorary pillow fight???
Jones,
I think that this blog needs a permanent pillow fight.
