Responses to the Gas Price Counter-Petition
I've had a few very interesting responses to the gas price counter-petition already. Since this is a weekend, I'm surprised to have any responses at all! I want to share one person's comments because they approach this from a different angle than I did.
Governor Doyle,
I'm just guessing, but, from your statements, you obviously missed this same kind of talk from the Carter years. His attempt at price controls led to the gas shortage and long lines experience then. There was NO shortage of oil. It was caused by his foolish policy. You, sir, are making the same mistake. This knee-jerk reaction you're having is more in line with a politician worried about keeping his job than a person concerned with the truth. I expected better from a Wisconsin politician. My mistake.

I too, agree with the mystery commenter. As it was years ago...there is no "true" shortage of oil today either. Let's go back beyond Carter, shall we? Can anybody give me the year/events where Americans were only allowed so much gas/fuel per week? Anyone? Bueller? If you used your oil ration before the weeks end, your ass was walking to work...not that there were many jobs available at that time either.
The fact remains that the price of crued oil is declining daily, and yet we, the MASSIVE consumers that we are, see very little to no change in the price at the pump. But all we have to hear from our fearless leaders are the words, "terror threat" and we see an instant jump of .10 to .30 in the price of gas depending on where you are in the US
Thats what I call fear tactics in order to keep a fiesty flock obedient.
If you wanted to see what true petrolieum pandemonium looks like, imagine Bush doing what he should've done after 9/11, taking care of our terrorist friends in Saudi Arabia. But we all know that would never happen under this administration.
But we all know that would never happen under this administration.
It certainly wouldn't happen with a democrat at the helm, either. "Bomb something? Surely you jest. The UN hasn't even started mailing them dog poop yet."
This is why I need to be elected president. I'd go spank some booty all over the world. I'll teach everyone to get along, by using "tough love."
Has anyone noticed that Cuba is still just 90 miles from Florida? We need to fix that.
I'll vote for ya'
...If you run as an independant.
"It certainly wouldn't happen with a democrat at the helm, either."
I don't think I mentioned anything about a democrat doing a better job. I simply said that THIS administration would never take on the Saudi's. Don't bite the hand that pays for your cowboy boots, unless, of course it's the american people.
