Crude Awakening

Go check out Phelony Jones' thoughts on a WSJ column regarding the United States' energy portfolio. And, be sure to follow her link to the original article. There's plenty of good insight in Jones' commentary and in the article, especially this line:

And grid power is much cheaper than the electricity generated by a hybrid's onboard engine.

That struck me as funny, because California has tried to work the equation the other way. In order to help with their power grid issues, the state of California has talked about paying people to charge the grid by running their hybrid cars. Apparently the greens are so snowed by hybrids that they think they are zero-emission, magic power factories.
