Keep Your Moral Objections Off My Dinner Plate

Jenna has a story on the latest case of a semi-nude PETA activist "dressed up" as a piece of meat to be butchered. My reply:

What if this display backfires, and people become sexually attracted to meat?

    Way to go, PETA.

doesn't even scratch the surface of what I think of PETA. To begin with, meat is murder? You take vegetables and boil them ALIVE to make your vegan slop. At least animals are butchered quickly and efficiently. It would be nice if we could gas the cow or give it a lethal injection, but that might spoil the taste a bit.

You're not going to convince me that eating meat is unnatural, either. Not while vegans have to take supplements or eat excessive amounts of tofu to balance their diet. We may eat more meat than we were designed to, but we were intended to eat flesh once in a while. True, killing is cruel. But, everything we eat has to die.

    Or, does it?

Perhaps we could raise cows and chickens and lambs on free range farms. We would take from them only what we need, and replace it in kind. For example, the drumstick on a chicken could be replaced with an artificial limb. I assume that most animals have duplicate organs that they can spare, like the human kidney. Once an animal is medically used up, it is free to live out the rest of its days happily on the farm. This way, no animal has to die to feed a human. We could feel enlightened because we've found a way to beat nature at it's game by becoming carnivores that do not kill.

Sorry for the image, it's slightly more disturbing than my "meat in vats" concept.

Yeah, I had to laugh at that story. The visual is too funny. I can't even get mad at those people. It's too ridiculous.
