    Gibbsville Unimpressed

We haven't heard from Larry in a while, and now he's mad, at us! He writes:

What is going on? The Wisconsin conservative blogger scene has changed in the last couple of months, it's become a cross-linking, blog-rolling lovefest for local celebrities and politicians.

Why are so many of the Wisconsin conservative bloggers chapping their lips kissing Charlie Sykes' butt? I give Charlie credit for helping to draw attention to the Wisconsin blogosphere, but is getting on his blogroll worth making a spectacle of yourself? Is preparing pandering posts (love illiteration) to garner his attention and maybe get a link the end-all-be-all in the Wisconsin blogosphere? Is Jessica McBride so hot that you have to pen some drippingly flirtatious tribute to get her to notice you?

Larry seems to think that all the spark has gone out of the cheddarsphere, that we're not serving up our hard-hitting opinions like we used to.

I have a theory on it, Larry. It could be that the average blogger has a life span of only a few months. They get started because they're passionate about an issue or two, they create a blog to deal with it and then hang on too long. It's just a theory though.

Honestly, I don't think the Cheddarsphere has changed. It's growing, so the blogrolls are too. And, we're seeing more diverse opinions. But, the usual suspects are still the same cast of characters.

And to defend this blog, in response to the quote above: I didn't have hard hitting political analysis in mind when I started. My blog is intended to be entertaining, which is why there was all that clowning around with Sykes and McBride. I don't think anyone else was nearly as shameless about sucking up. From time to time there will be a post here about something that I'm truly passionate about. But, I can't compete with some of the analysis that I see on other blogs. So, chances are those political posts will be dripping with sarcasm in an effort to make them readable. Perhaps you're reading me too much, Larry?

Some bloggers cover the stuff that slips through the cracks. I'll cover the stuff that slips through the cracks in the cracks.

Sounds like it's just you Aaron.
Larry and I just went ice fishin' on Tuesday. I bought him a smoothie and he confessed all the goods he's got on you...

careful when you use the word "US", unless you're talking about your double life again.

    Hey look, I'm around :)

This Larry guy obviously doesn't read too many blogs, and not too many posts on the blogs he does read.

I think the WI blogosphere on the conservative side is tremendous, and not a "lovefest", but a crazy, analytical, fisking, liberals be damned "scene."

    And I like it.
